Yeah, writing blog posts for my Senior Project group is a fun task and it makes me feel like people care when you are reviewing the blogs and the little activity icon shows up and it's more than one view. It makes me feel special, but isn't something to go brag about to your friends. What could really make your friends jealous? Well dating a celebrity would definitely be atop the list, but in the editorial/publishing world, maybe your own full page article with photos? Well yeah, that would definitely be an amazing thing, especially with all the subscribers that read Golfdom Magazine. So, instead of Ms. Davis, a couple peers and maybe grandma, I'm looking at a nationwide recognition. That's pretty awesome, but then again.. very nerve-racking. This means multiple drafts, many edits and grammatical changes and the realization that this article isn't a typical analytical paper. These articles are focused more to a relaxed writing type, where it isn't all facts and quotes but writing that engages the reader. Today starts the journey to excellence (if you will) and to gain the tools to write a magazine article that really I never thought I'd be writing.
There is a good vibe going around the office and I'm really enjoying my stay here at North Coast Media and Golfdom Magazine (but I'm hoping that vibe isn't because Tiger won this weekend).
It certainly helped Tiger that Sergio feel apart on the final holes! A bit of a Tin Cup moment there, don't you think? How exciting to be delving into a different style of writing! You have an egaging voice in your blogs, so I'm sure your foray into this style will be successful!
ReplyDeleteSawyer- it so cool that you are going to have your own article! Did they give you any specifications as to what it has to be about? For example, are you writing about your experience as a high school golfer, as a golf fan, as a soon-to-be college golfer? It shows a lot of trust if they are willing to publish your article. This is something you will have with you for the rest of your life and remember forever. I can't wait to read it or hear what you come up with!
