South-Bound
The past few days have been a bit of a whirlwind as we are preparing for our travels south. After our meeting with Dan Moulthrop last week, our priority has been zeroing in on a writing style we can implement in Savannah. We've been reading articles from the New Yorker, mostly the small articles at the beginning of every edition that really model the dialogue based, present tense style we want to emulate. The hardest part of writing as a team is making our pieces sound like they are coming from the same author, and focusing on the dialogue of the interview helps immensely with that.
As we leave tomorrow evening, today was dedicated to prep for the journey. I've been packing, clipping articles about Savannah for more potential interviews, and just feeling generally excited. Since we decided to only really focus on one Cleveland piece to really finesse our style, the meat of our project is beginning when our plane touches down. The next time we post, it will be from Savannah, Georgia! Yay!
