While Claire and I are in Montreal, our main goal is to
immerse ourselves in the Quebecoise culture but to also conduct 10-12
interviews with local residents about the separatist movement. During these
interviews we had a set list of questions that we asked each one of the people
that we interviewed so that we could judge the varying answers that we received
and once we review the interviews, make an informed hypothesis about the
general opinion on the separatist’s movement. To our surprise, a significant
portion of those who we interviewed responded to our questions with a lot of
impartiality. A lot of people just don’t really care about the separatist’s
movement anymore, and many believe that it is a fad that gains peaks of
interest throughout the decades, but like every time before it, the movement
dies out. While no one really believes that the movement will ever die out
completely, many do believe that the younger Quebecoise generation will not
take as much of an interest in the movement as the generations in the past. We are leaning a bunch of really cool things
about the separatist’s movement as well as the attitude of Quebec and it is
becoming really interesting!
