America's Most Haunted City
On Tuesday we decided to retrace our steps from the day before; we planned to visit another Waffle House then drive to the city and go to the comic book store and book shop in hopes of talking to more people. We've really been drawn to going to the local breakfast joints as we always leave with a few amusing encounters and educational moments under our belts. I think it's a great way of seeing how people genuinely interact and will serve us well in our writing process. We then went downtown again and talked to the owner of the comic book store briefly, then moved to the book shop. There we met and spoke briefly with the owner of the store, who said she would love to answer some questions but asked us to email her subject matter so she could prepare first. We went home but returned to the city at 8pm to go on a ghost tour of the city, as Savannah has the official title of America's Most Haunted City. Our tour guide told us story after story of mysterious and violent deaths that have made up the early history of Savannah. The best part of the tour, however, was when a middle-aged man walking an adorable puppy interrupted our tour to put in his own two cents about the paranormal activity of the neighborhood. The longer he spoke to the group and upstaged out tour guide, the more we were intrigued. As the rest of the group began moving to the next location, Caroline and I made a split second decision and hung back to talk. Long story short, we have an interview scheduled with him today at 4pm, and I'm excited to see what other insights he may have on the city. We also have been contacting famed watercolor artist Mary Whyte about scheduling an interview...things are really shaping up!
