Story Time: Office Edition

Who doesn't like story time?

A couple of stories to share that have happened throughout the office thus far!

First story took place in the lunchroom area when I was eating lunch with a couple other employees and we were talking about high school and then got into college. When I said I attended Hawken School one man's jaw dropped and chimed in saying his sister went to Hawken School and graduated from Hawken not too long ago (early 00's). What a small world!

Another good story, I walked around the office introducing myself and acquainting myself with the lay of the land while introducing myself to all of the staff members when I got to one office with a very friendly man sitting at his desk. My proctor, Pat, introduced me to the man and before he greeted me or anything he said "I like my coffee with cream and sugar, on my desk at 9:17 am sharp. no excuses." You want to think this was a joke originally but you don't know for certain because you just met the guy but luckily he smiled and said, "I'm just playing with you, I'm Brian, nice to meet you."

Final thing around the office which I think is amazing... Every wednesday a group of the staff members (if you aren't busy) and other people from the building meet at 11:00 sharp (if you want to come) in the lobby and head down to the soup kitchen near by and help serve lunch to the people eating that day. I think it's remarkable that the office as a whole (or close to it) goes out of their way to help the community by serving lunch at the soup kitchen every week on Wednesday! I can't wait to be a part of this tradition here at North Coast Media.
