Ghost Tweeting

One of the speakers I heard at the Women Entrepreneurs Rock the World 2013 conference was a woman named Nika Stewart. Nika started the social media management company Ghost Tweeting which serves to "increase your visibility, expand your following, enhance your engagement, and promote your expert status." The 'ghosts' on her team generate social media content so that a client doesn't have to. The social media market for advertisement, marketing, and business/economic growth is a booming, complicated, and time-consuming one. Here are my notes from Nika's lecture on navigating the world of Twitter as an advertising platform:
  • no conversations on Twitter, broadcasting is more effective
  • four types of Tweets
  1. CORE: your core message, links to blog, video, interview, message, tip, YOU
  2. ALIGNED VOICES: other people's messages, retweets, etc
  3. TOPPINGS: personal flavors, are you funny? fashion forward? a guru? includes quotes all aligned with branding strategy
  4. SPONTANEOUS: post as they happen
  • 22 times per day was calculated as the optimal amount of times to Tweet to market the best
  • ie, posting more often gets more followers- the more the better
  • how to make money from Twitter
  1. Write quality blog posts.
  2. Post a compelling Tweet: compels people to want more information and click your link.
  3. Gently guide people to take action!
  • yes to repeat Tweets, no to repeats in the same day unless it's urgent information
If you like Nika's advice, Tweet and use the hashtag: #NikaIsAFreakingGenius or follow her @NikaStewart
