Fundamentals

Today consisted of an abundance of meetings. I was fortunate to be able to see the enrollment interview process that clients undergo to be admitted into the Metzenbaum program! I was lucky enough to sit through two interviews and one management meeting throughout the course of the day! The interviews were private sessions with the client, his/her guardian/parent, the SAS manager, and MIS manager. Each interview last for about thirty minutes to an hour and cover a variety of topics ranging from medical aid to living arrangements. One key aspect which is important and that I have picked up on for this field of social work is all of the special education abbreviations. These abbreviations get thrown around constantly and they can be tough to work with and understand. My sponsor and I made a list of all of the important ones and are constantly going through them! Within the next two weeks my sponsor and I plan to start a garden for the clients to maintain, as the weather is getting nicer, and hopefully finalize the design this week!
