The Grammy Awards of Entrepreneurship

Last week, during the Women Entrepreneurs Rock the World Conference I attended, awards were presented to a select group of women for their success and impact as entrepreneurs. Categories included Trailblazer of the Year, Fastest Growing Business of the Year, Entrepreneurial Author of the Year, etc. What was so moving about this awards ceremony was that it almost didn't matter who won. They brought the finalists up to the stage for a group picture and then presented one of them with the award. The speeches were incredible.

One woman (who's name I'll omit from this piece) immediately burst into tears. And then she told us her story. How her career, how her life became jeopardized when she had a nervous breakdown and suffered partial paralysis. How she was able to recover and then share her experience, thanks to this incredible community of women supporting each other.

I was probably the only person in the room who isn't yet a legal adult so I have the least ability to relate to her message. I couldn't help but feel that this is what defines the Women Helping Women movement. I will probably never again be in a room with that many smart, talented, creative, successful, and powerful women. And that's pretty humbling.
