(Update for Friday May 3rd-Monday)
After completing a successful interview with the lovely Nancy Lyons on Wednesday, Caroline and I met the following day to begin writing our first piece. We decided on writing seperate pieces from our own points of view then combining them into one fluid piece as opposed to collaborating on one joint piece, since that would surely be more difficult and require more time. Even after deciding on this new format, we realized that our previous ideas of writing and editing pieces over the course of two days was a tad bit unrealistic. When I was in Creative Nonfiction, writing 800 words a night took me about 4 or 5 hours of writing and editing. The fact that we will be writing upward of 800 words for each piece, trying to produce pieces of a greater quality, and undergoing a more extensive editing process has led us to decide that a three day writing and editing period would be far more realistic for us. Aside from this addition to our plans, we also have scheduled an early morning meeting with our sponsor on Wednesday, where we'll be showing him our first piece and receiving feedback. We have an abundance of ideas for other interviews and pieces we can complete before leaving for Savannah...week 2 is going to be interesting to say the least.
