Realizations of the real world
Welcome to the real world. If this doesn't give enough light into the life of an actual working man or woman for high school students, I don't know what would. It's especially hard when you know you are going in to work and not coming out with anything monetary, mostly intangibles. Yes, these intangibles would last longer than any physical possessions we might get out of our senior project but its still the struggle to get up and go to work and but as much effort into your work as you would anything else. It's very eye opening to be sitting in an office surrounded by people that work 9 - 5 everyday (even though they have more work than I do) that support themselves and/or their families and still put as much effort into what they do every hour of their work day. I give them a hardy round of applause. In my field of work if you may, I have different motifs. I'm not working to support anyone or anything, I'm working to build my future, and when the time comes where I will need to support my family and myself, you bet I'll be ready. Writing this article could be seen as a metaphor for life. In the process of writing this article for Golfdom, I've gone through drafts and edits and have asked people around the office for advice and critiques, all skills that will need to be utilized when I am placed in the real world, outside of school. So tying this whole piece back together, the things I'm doing in the office might not seem to have a short term benefit, but I know (and for everyone else) the things we do will have a lasting impression and will make a change in our years outside the educational systems!
