At the Shaker Lakes Nature Center we get assigned a variety
of tasks in order to complete. As
a team of six, we report to Sarah Cech for these assignments, and each of them
will aid the Nature Center or provide a service for the community and/or
staff. On the first day, I
assisted in the preparation for their annual plant sale, which is a very
large-scale event in which they order and distribute plants for the communities
nearby. To assist in this
activity, we took order forms and compiled the flowers and plants that each
person ordered. We then moved them
into an area in which the movers and delivers could easily access them. They would then be shipped out to the respective
buyers. Some other preparation for
this event was making labels for all of the plants in the sale, and then moving
them to their appropriate locations.
The entire Nature Center contributed to this event, and even though I
didn’t attend the actual event, I heard it was a great success for the
community. Even though there was a
lot of havoc around the area, it was a fun experience for everyone, even on a
hot spring day.
